When did you start at 20 Mile CrossFit:
I started in the 2nd half of July 2016. After years of traditional weight training and conditioning I was looking for something that would offer me a change from my routine and challenge me with new ways of pushing my body and mind to achieve my fitness goals. I had tried CF type workouts sporadically throughout the years and it seemed like the right time to fully commit to the program and see where CF could take me in my fitness goals.  

Before CF Vs. Now:
I have been battling though both mechanical injuries and illness that I suffered from during my time in the military, my weight and strength have fluctuated dramatically in the last few years. I was making progress in improving my health before CF but with the help of the coaches in combination with physical therapy I have seen some great improvements in both my range of motion and the amount of weight I can move in certain lifts. I have been very happy with the progress I have made and am looking forward to seeing how the combination of lifting and conditioning together transfers into practical applications like skiing this season.  

Favorite CF Moment:  
When I started at 20 Mile due to old injuries I could only do about a 15 pound squat snatch, after a couple months of hard work and good coaching I have been able to increase that weight to over a hundred pounds on a good day.

When did you start CF:  
‍‍‍I started CF in the 2nd half of July 2016. I was looking for a change. I had just finished competing in my first NPC Bikini competition in April and I wasn’t feeling motivated in the gym to really give it my all and was just g‍‍‍oing through the motions. I also wanted to get stronger and knew I needed to step outside of my comfort zone to do so.

Before CF Vs. Now:  
I think my strength gains are the obvious change for me, but it isn’t the greatest change I have made in the last 5 months. After dieting for 4 months and focusing solely on aesthetics, I struggled. A lot. Gaining weight was hard. I knew it was necessary but it was harder than I ever imagined. But, since joining CF, my mindset has completely changed. CF is about performance and bettering yourself! No one cares I am not the strongest, but everyone roots for me. No one cares I don’t have 6-pack abs anymore. We root for each other every day to be better athletes and leave nothing in our tanks. It isn’t about who has the best glute hamstring tie in or leanest body, it is about pushing myself to new limits and overcoming obstacles. I couldn’t be more grateful for what I’ve learned from the coaches and other 20mile athletes in past 5 months and I am so excited to see how I continue to grow here at 20mile!

Favorite and Least Favorite CF Movement:
Favorite: Power Cleans and Rope Climb! Box Jumps are fun too!
Least Favorite: Snatch and Overhead Squat – Anything over the head is a fear movement for me! Oh, also double unders because whipping yourself with the rope while learning these is the worst sting at 5:30AM!

When did you start at 20 Mile CrossFit?
‍‍‍I started at 20 Mile in October of 2015.2. Why did you start CrossFit/20Mile? I had been cherry picking main site WODs and doing them for a year or two and really enjoyed the workout style of CrossFit versus anything else I had ever done. At that point however, I was about to hit another birthday, with another year of not seeing the results and progress I wanted to. I had always wanted to join a box but naively told myself that I was getting the same workout on my own, I mean, how different c‍‍‍ould it be? Finally I convinced myself to give it a shot for a week and see if I was right all that time. I was not.  

Life before CF vs. Now:
When I joined, I was hovering around 270 lbs and carrying that in all the wrong places.  So far I am down to 235 lbs., almost two waist sizes, and am stronger and have more endurance than I've ever had in my life.   Beyond the physical changes, this gym and this family have been something so special to me.  Suffice to say that since joining 20 Mile, life outside the gym has been a mixed bag but in 20 mile, I've found a place that feels like home away from home.  It has changed my attitude in and out of the gym to strive to be better every single day.  Whether it is by a little or by a lot, every day provides another opportunity to improve.  Each coach drives to get the best from all of us and each member is so positive and uplifting.  Even on my worst days, coming into 20 mile will undoubtedly put a smile on my face.

Favorite CF Moment:
With everything in play from putting trolls in headbands to hitting PRs and entering my first ever competition this summer, it's hard to pick just one but I'd have to say it's that moment when the countdown hits 5 seconds before we start and I get to let out that big "WOOOO!!!". Get's me fired up every time!

Favorite and Least Favorite CF Movement:  
Favorite - Deadlift!  Was there a doubt?  It's my favorite because all you have to do is pick it up.  Seems simple enough...
Least Favorite - Overhead squat.  Just gross.

When did you start CrossFit?
Dec 8, 2015 - about a week after I turned 48 2. I've struggled with my weight my entire life. I had been going to the globo gym across the street, doing elliptical, spin class, or kettlebell workouts I found online but I hit a wall. I wasn't seeing results and my motivation was tanking. My partner had started CrossFit at a boot camp and took me to a class and I was hooked. The schedule at that box didn't work for me so I set out to visit locations close to work or on my way home. 20 Mile was my first stop, on a Thursday. Dylan and Stevie were so welcoming - I really liked the smaller class size, and the vibe in general. I never considered going any place else!  

Before CF vs. Now:
Physically, nothing has changed me like CrossFit. I've seen my knee pain improve I've had fewer issues with my back. It has really helped me cope with stress better. There is nothing like stepping into the box and having my mind just clear. It's impossible to think about anything else except the WOD when you're doing the WOD. And it really feels good to know I'm stronger now than I was a year ago, stronger than I thought, and can do things many people my age cannot. I completed the Spartan Sprint in Breckenridge this year - something I never would have considered trying before I started CF (Pictured!) My goal is to complete the Trifecta (Sprint, Super, Beast all in the same calendar year) in 2018 when I'm 50.

Favorite and Least Favorite CF Movement:
Favorite - KBS It's one of the few that I can Rx on a regular basis!  
Least Favorite - Burpees over the Bar. I struggle with burpees as it is - I'm slow. But I'm so paranoid about catching a toe going over the bar that I have to stand completely upright, even on laterals, to be sure I jump high enough. (close runner up: Double Unders b/c I can't seem to get them!)

When did you start CrossFit?
I started Crossfit about a week before the Open last year (Feb 2016). I started at 20 Mile in June 2016, after the first gym I belonged to closed. I was devastated when my old gym closed. I tried to go back to the "regular gym" and hated it. My friends Sam and Beth (who are AMAZING!) had tried out 20 Mile and invited me to give it a try. I loved my 9:30 peeps from Day One!!

Before CF vs. Now:
I have lost 30 LBS people! It's crazy!
What really motivated me was 2 things:
First-meeting Pam and Kristin. I was so inspired by their abilities! They are able to do things I really thought impossible for a 30-something woman. I wanted to be just like them!
Second-I needed to lose weight to do a pull-up! It was empowering to have goals outside of "wanting to be skinny." (Nothing wrong with that though!). We signed up for Girls Gone Rx and I knew there would be pull-ups at that comp. I worked really hard to be able to help my team with those dang pull-ups.  

Crossfit has taught me to love my body and all that it can do. That's a great feeling.

Girls Gone Rx is my favorite moment thus far. It was my whole teams first comp and we had no idea what we were in for! We were like giddy school children all day! Love those ladies! Most fun ever. I can't wait to go back! I must say I love the people I workout with! They make me laugh and smile everyday! Crossfit alone in my garage would suck. I need my people.

Favorite and Least Favorite CF Movement:
I LOVE squats! And any movement that involves the barbell. I hate all the gymnastic stuff. T2b, pull-ups, handstand anythings-because I am horrible at them!
